Developing Self-Confidence
Here are some things to think about to help get you started. First, take inventory of your strengths. You already excel in some areas, and it's helpful to remind yourself of the things you do well. Next, come up with some specific areas you wish to improve on. Give yourself realistic goals based on these areas. If you'd like to feel more confident about speaking up in class or in meetings, for example, a reasonable goal might be "I will answer two questions or make two comments today." Spend some time beforehand preparing to meet your goal, and celebrate afterward! Last, don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to other people. Remember your own unique strengths, and proceed at your own pace as you work to improve in other areas.
